For the second time since MINT State moved to Myrtle Beach last August, we’ve experienced a once-in-a-lifetime event. The first was possibly the single greatest sports card discovery of all-time: “The Lucky 7 Find.” In fact, if we had not made the move from northern Illinois to South Carolina, that southern family would have never contacted us wanting to know more about the cards they discovered in their great-grandparent’s home.

Yesterday we witnessed the second once-in-a-lifetime event while living on the Grand Strand when Coastal Carolina beat Arizona in the College World Series to become national champions, the first NCAA championship in the school’s history. Coastal Carolina – in nearby Conway – became the first team since Minnesota in 1956 to win the title in its first CWS appearance and the wait was well worth it. “Whenever I die, I’ll know this group of guys here, they willed themselves to be the national champion,” CCU coach Gary Gilmore said. “It was just meant to be, no doubt. If there is such a thing as a team of destiny, this group is it.”

Congratulations to the Chanticleers team, parents, and families and thank you for our second once-in-a-lifetime celebration this year in South Carolina!
