Inspired by the coverage of “The Lucky 7 Find,” a North Carolina family realized their inherited collection of 570 tobacco cards included an example of the scarce T206 Ty Cobb (Portrait, Red Background) with the "King of the Smoking Tobacco World" brand of tobacco.
After five years from their initial contact with MINT State, we authenticated the collection, which had been assembled and gifted to the family by an American Tobacco Company employee who had worked at their Factory 25 location.
The collection, passed down through generations, was dubbed “The Factory 25 Collection” and featured low-grade but well-preserved cards. Notably, this was MINT State’s ninth Ty Cobb with the “Ty Cobb” brand of tobacco submitted to PSA, which represents a staggering 43% of PSA’s total population of this incredibly famous card.
